In the US, about one million people with diabetes per year are treated for foot ulcers.

Current treatment involves the use of various skin substitutes which are able to improve wound healing in the short term but have limited long-term success due to the lack of blood vessels to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients.

Angioblast plans to develop an MPC product on a biocompatible patch which will be the only product in the market capable of providing both increased blood supply and new cells to repair and regenerate the wound site.
